The Link 1 pulls up alongside the strickling merchant ship, and the airlock looks to be partially opened due to battle damage.

"Johnathan I want you to stay back and guard the boarding tubes. Make sure nothing gets through and back into our ship while we're occupied on here. My armor's thicker Harrstjarna so stick behind me until we get into a skirmish so any potshots get me first. They've likely locked down the cockpit so let's hit the engine room first at the back of the ship, any questions?" Micaela looks towards Harrstjarna

".....dibs" He said with a grin as he set up behind her, shield at the read as he nodded his head with that cheese grin.

The bridge is locked down as predicted but the ribs of the ship are made of canisters of dark metal, and it sounds like something is skittering within them as you look down the spine to the rear of the ship

"Well this sounds promising..." Hárrstjarna joked as he eyed the canisters and the up and down the hall. "Orders?"

"Maybe mosk workers, transported in canisters to work on the battleships? Or some food, or a defense mechanism, keep your eyes peeled in case they break open." Micaela says as they lead the way to the rear.

He falls in line behind her, his shield raised and ready, his other hand free.

(Not meaning to double post just had another question when you get around to this. Are the door leading to the rear of the ship sealed as well?)

Micaela will approach the doors at the rear of the ship. Testing to see if they open with her left hand. Failing that she would prime her Cybernetics to attempt to bypass the security.

Harrstjarna would pull behind her, shield still at the ready with his hand resting between the stun baton and his hand axe. Watching behind them as well, as to not wanting to be flanked as she checked the door.

As you approach the doors, two Chimeran marines emerge from their hiding places among the gas canisters, their versions for void carbines leveled toward you. They are 10m away. (Initiative )

The faceplate of the enemy crumples as your stun baton hammer blows into it, leaving both of you wounded, but the victors of the fight in the corridor of the Free Merchant.

Micaela stands up straight and then rests against one of the containers lining the walls of the ship for a couple of moments before casting a glance back towards the front of the ship, fishing out her Stowed Medpak (A consumable that recovers 2d4+1 HP when applied to a wound) from her suit pouch and passing it to Harrstjarna "We should continue towards the rear, once we secure the back of the ship I'll signal for John to secure these two, if it takes too long we'll finish them off, give me the signal when you're done with the meds." Micaela catches her breath, glancing between the two ends of the ship for the time being.

Harrstjarna thanks her for the Medpak and puts away his Stun Baton as he starts to apply it to his rifle wound. "What should we do with their weapons? I don't like the idea of leaving them laying around, even with them knocked out." He said as he nodded to her, as he readied his shield once again. ((Alrighty))

Micaela looks over towards their weapons, kicking them a little to the side and then unslinging her thermal spear, sending a slash into each one's barrel before continuing to the rear of the ship quickly.

He smiled and nodded his head, wishing he had a thermal Lance as instead he drew his Medium Advanced weapon (Viking Hand Axe).

The door to the rear of the section has been closed but you see the keypad keeping it locked is in poor repair. Two mounting screws are missing and there is some exposed wiring around the bottom. The doors themselves are thick blast doors.

"Maybe you should light it up with your stun Baton, maybe on a low setting if it has one?" He asked as he looked at the thick blast doors for a moment before canting his head towards Micaela. "What do you think?"

"Let me try something before we start messing with that panel, close to your idea." Micaela takes a moment to steady herself before priming her eelskin capacitators mesh. Harrstjarna able to feel the static electricity in the air as Micaela presses her hand against the panel. Trying to coax it open. (I don't know if it's sneak/dex or sneak/int. I will roll sneak/dex and if it is the latter it's one higher If this is viable.)

The capacitor mesh crackles, and the door unlocks. A set of winches on the other side will allow it to be opened, and you're unsure what might be on the other side.

"Well, I guess there is only one way to find out what is on the other side.... " He huffs as he tries his best to grab one side of the blast doors to help open them.

( @Solrujo wanted to help if you folks are good with it, we're going from here, into probably a bit more mission, and this was a good place for a spy character to begin, seeing as how we're going to be making planetfall soon, and need to find some folks on the shipyards)

Behind you, the tube opens once more as agent Etsha Reen steps off the docked Free Merchant, Link -1, onto the Chimeran merchant vessel. The bridge has been locked down, and two knocked out Chimeran Marines lay on the deck. The engineering section sits unlocked now, but behind closed blast doors that Harr and Micaela seem to be working at lifting.

"Glad to see you join us Etsha! If you can help Harrstjarna with this door I'll message my security John to get these Chimeran's processed." (edit past this point) The person speaking is a woman underneath a decidedly practical suit of intimidating ceramic and steel power armor. Seeing her previously on the ship you recognize the voice as Senior Agent Micaela Finnegan, the relatively quiet if friendly captain of the Link-1, in her early 30s though showering her age more than most would at this point. "There better be something important behind this door." He said with a chuckle as he waited for Etsha, to whom he gave a nod of the head.

As Etsha steps through the door, his eyes slightly widen as he glances at the two marines on the floor. Once Micaela speaks his eyes flicker to her and Etsha seems to quickly gather himself, shaking his mop of red hair. Almost before it is noticed the look of slight shock is covered with a wry grin as Etsha speaks up. "Of course Captain Finnegan. It is an honor to serve with the both of you. I will assist in any way I can." Etsha then walks over to the door, grin widening at Harrstjarna's humor.

THe doors are barely winched open , but it is enough to crawl through. A north-south running access tube looks to reach the engines and you can see fires burning in them due to the disabling shots. Heading further in, you can see the galley, and crew bunk are in this area, and there is sound coming from the closed door of the galley. This one is far less secured, just a simple entry iris meant to keep the rooms of the ship separate from one another.

Micaela will try to listen out for what kind of noises are coming from the other side of the iris. Trying to determine if it's machinery doing its job or something more organic/purpose driven, like workers attempting repairs.

It sounds like organic, but you have no indication of what they might be doing on the other side of the door.

Hárrstjarna kept his eye on Micaela and the iris hatch, though he walked over to the crew's bunk area, taking a look around to see what they might be dealing with besides marines.

(I'm going to handle the iris hatch first, that is why I did not respond to your post)

Micaela will approach the Iris door. Intent on opening it and revealing what lies beyond as the agents make their way further into the rear of the ship. Positioning herself against instinct to take up the majority of the doorway so any hostile intent is met by engineered storm Armor rather than catching any of her lighter armored allies.

The galley hatch opens revealing the contents of a kitchen thrown everywhere. Power has been cut to this room when battle was joined to prevent fires from spreading if this section of the vessel was hit. Two mosks lurk here, drawing kitchen knives to defend themselves and the galley against you. You see no Chimerans here.

Etsha will attempt to talk with the mosks. “My good chefs, we are not to fight over the cuisine. Do stand down and you will be unharmed.” (edited)

Knives held out, you see they're worried about their own safety, and don't really care about the kitchen nearly as much as their own shells.

Glancing to Harrstjarna, Etsha leans in to Micaela and in a lowered voice "Captain, I think they'll stay bystanders."

"Quite possibly Etsha. I'll trust your judgement on this one." Micaela slings the spear back over her shoulder for now and takes a half step towards the Mosk and point towards the fire and then holds her hand out to them like they're to take it, and beckoning them forward with all weapons stowed (edited last bit of the sentence, Micaela is obviously armed. Just doesn't have anything in hand atm.) (edited)

Harrstjarna eyes the Mosk for a moment but trust in his companions completely as he scans the rest of the area, belting his weapon as well.

The galley doesn't seem to have anything else in it other than some sacks of dry ingredients for cooking and some rehydrating pods to make meals out of what has been brought on board. The knives used for preparing fresh ingredients are left on the floor, along with some of the other kitchen tools.

"Well Cap'Mic, I don't see anyone else...." He said as he turned his attention back to Micaela, shrugging a bit as he adjusted his shield arm.

"Could one of you lead these folks back onto our ship for Mr. Cobb to keep an eye on? We can't grind the op to a halt and I don't want to leave one of you alone on here before we finish off this section and head to the front."

Hárrstjarna volunteered to escort the workers.

Once Harrstjarna leaves Johnathan looks over at the two Mosk and mutters to himself "Just when I thought I was done with the babysitting crap." What does keep an eye on them even mean? Before he sighs and leans against the wall and looks at the Mosk, one hand on his laser rifle and a blank stare look on his face as he leans against the wall opposite the boarding tube with the two Mosk nearby Back on the ship Micaela says "Alright. Let's check out this crew bunk before we roll back to the front of the ship

Hárrstjarna nods his head as he moves towards the crew bunks, also nodding to Etsha.

Taking a deep breath, Etsha pulls the laser pistol from the holster at his hip. He nods and is ready to follow.

The bunk room opens revealing a room with eight beds in it, and a smaller adjoining room where the captain and first officer would have made their residence. This outside room looks to have been the living place of the crew itself, and the indentured servants forced to work here. There is not much in the room, just a simple storage locker for each crewman, and a small trunk where a clean set of linens for each bunk has been laid out.

Micaela scans the room with a glance before heading through quickly towards the adjoining room. Personally dismissing the room as being as empty as it appears for the moment.

there is a simple flywheel keeping the captain's room shut, and ingrained obedience in the slaves has kept anyone from trying to access it without permission. Giving it an experimental pull, the wheel was never locked in place.

Hárrstjarna follows behind Micaela, keeping his head on a swivel though and his shield at the ready.

Etsha brings up the rear, and watches for any surprises from where they came.

With the team in position and alert Micaela wrenches open the door to reveal what lies beyond. (edited)

The wheel spins smoothly on greased hinges and begins opening. Inside the room, it is well appointed, featuring a desk, a book case, and a small safe

Micaela will walk over to examine the safe to see what kind of lock is present "Let's not spend too much time in here. Grab one thing tops then let's head back to the front."

Etsha will move over to the desk, quickly searching for any important paperwork (or digital media) that may help them. (I’m unsure exactly what our mission is, to be honest. You mentioned that we would be docking and need to interface so I would focus on that type of paperwork.

Hárrstjarna moves over to the bookshelf, looking over the items on its shelves.

(We're mainly securing the ship at the minute. But internally Micaela is worried about the engine fire getting out of control and not being able to come back for these things if it gets worse.)

Etsha finds a captains log on the desk, stored within the compad. Time to read it can come later. In the book case there are several leather bound books in the Chimeran language. None of you can read the titles or the contents.

"Anyone read Chimeran?" Hárrstjarna asked, reaching his hand up and running them down the row of spines.

"Grab em! That's a good resource for our boys in lab coats to look over and figure out HOW to read Chimeran." Micaela says over her shoulder

"All of them?" Hárrstjarna asked as he started to do just that, loading up on books as he turned his head back to Micaela.

"Don't weigh yourself down a billion tons, but yeah. i'd say go for them."

Hárrstjarna nodded and pulled as many as he could.

(We'd only be able to take a couple without encumbering ourselves)

Outside, the battle still rages, and this ship is disabled for now, but could repair and get back into the fight at any moment.

Etsha will take his pack off, slide in the compad and then walk over to Harrstjarna and and take a book to slide into his pack.

"Alright!" Micaela is going to say loudly and stand. Turning away from the safe. "Let's head to the front of the ship and introduce the captain and his bridge crew to our might fellas." Micaela will begin heading back to the sealed cockpit area unless there are any protests

Sliding his pack back on, Etsha readies his laser pistol and with a half-cocked grin "I don't know about my might, but I'm with you, captain." (Etsha is set to follow Micaela to include basic orders)

Heading towards the front Micaela will look to see if the bridge is still sealed. If it is she will attempt to use her eelskin capacitor mesh again to breach it after her team forms up.

The bridge is sealed and the capacitor mesh doesn't seem to be able to get into the keypad here.

"Maybe there is something in the captain's log?" Etsha asks Micaela, reaching for his pack.

"Possibly. If either of you are good with a tool kit now's the time to let me know. Otherwise I'm going to try and get through this pad's casing the old fashioned way."

Etsha just shakes his head and glances to Harrstjarna

"Don't look at me, I would be doing the same thing she is about to." He said as he readied his stun baton and shield.

Micaela will attempt to use her thermal glaive to slice off a section of the secure panel on keypad in order to reach the hopefully more vulnerable internal electronics, ideally without rendering the pad completely useless and locked down.

The slice is clean, and you impact exactly where you want to. The wires beneath are easily manipulated and the light turns from a harsh red to a more soothing green.

"That thing comes in pretty handy" Hárrstjarna commented ad he watched the Senior Agent work.

Etsha nods in agreement, then readies himself once the light flickers to green.

The doors winch open, revealing the bridge. The Chimeran captain, two marines with shotguns, and two Noctua deck officers make up the sheltering crew of this vessel. They are all roughly within 5m of the door, taking cover behind consoles and chairs, preparing to resist.

"Captain, would you mind if I addressed them?" Etsha quickly asks eying the room around Micaela's shoulder.

(My understanding of the scene is that they are actively diving behind cover in order to shoot and attack us to defend themselves?)

(Cool - still getting a feel for things. Didn't know if I could try to get them to lay down weapons :P)

(Oh no I definitely like to give folks that option first. The Chimerans are very much a warriorlike culture, the two mosk in the kitchen were prime for that and you made a great move, this I think MIGHT be less easy.)

After some obvious body language from the captain, Etsha covers behind her and the door as much as possible, prepared to fire.

Hárrstjarna follows suit though not wanting to put a whole in the hull, he refrains from drawing his firearms. Keeping his stun baton handy

Micaela analyzes the scene for a moment, hearing Etsha's words and seeing the shotgun in the marine's hands she bursts into motion attempting to get close to one of the marine's to neutralize the threat they offer, choking them up with melee and the threat of shocks from her baton.

As Micaela moves in he follows in suit behind her, lashing out his baton at one of the marines with a shotgun.

(Neko is likely going to be calling for initiative now that he knows there is a fight.)

I will levy my pistol at the nearest one "stop and lay down your arms or you are next" (can I delay an action if they seem to raise a weapon to fire or continue to move?)

(it costs your move action to hold your action, and if it looks like they're going to meet your trigger then you get your main, is how that normally works)

The officers look to be trying to avoid taking part in this, but they have no interest in being caught by a stray round or baton blow, and are trying to back up another few steps to stay out of the melee

(It makes sense from an RP and tactical standpoint to keep an eye on two non-secured enemies, but I feel like you are dropping heavy hints that they are basically non-combatants?)

(They certainly have not made any hostile move thus far once the marines were engaged)

Seeing no obvious threat from the officers, Etsha will attempt to step in close and take a shot at the marine near Micaela if there is an opening.

(You can shoot. No penalty I just give their AC a slight bump due to them being partially obscured in melee )

(That's highly suspicious) Micaela sees the Chimeran crumple from Etsha's well placed shot, and seeing Harrstjarna handling his own opponent well enough she leaps over the body and charges after the captain taking a swing at him with the baton.

The marine is downed, stunned within their armor and unable to lend any further help right now. With the security detail down, and the crew in shambles, resistance falls apart and the crew looks to be trying to surrender

Etsha will keep his pistol trained on the other officer. “Please, sir. Hands behind your head and kneel on place.”

The crew begins to comply with instructions and doesn’t seem to have the stomach to resist with their marine contingent now stunned or already captured

Hárrstjarna puts away his stun baton and picks up one of the Marine's shotguns, curiously looking it over before turning to Micaela. "What should we do with them?" He asked before looking back at their ship captain.

Etsha waits for orders as well.

(The first two marines are already in our cold sleep pods, so we would need to finish the other ones off or figure out some way to secure our captives , ) (edited)

(Ah alright. Sorry I misinterpreted what you said as saying they were all full already. I'm a little tired at the moment. Will post a reply later tonight or tomorrow morning)

"I want that marine podded with the others, secure them and afterwards work with John to get the Mosk into a pod as well. As for you other three, the ship needs stabilized then we'll put you into secure cryopod storage in return for your cooperation. What's in this ship, the pods and containers?" Micaela talks evenly and calmly facing the Chimeran captain, giving him time to recover his stance and composure; confident in Etsha's ability to drop him if he tries anything.

"You want me to pat then down before I drag these two away?" He asked the Senior Agent as he bagged the Marines shotgun, glancing over at her before he attempting to shoulder the marine to carry him out.

Micaela will nod. "Once you get back."

He nodded and carried the knocked out Marines to be podded, returning as quickly as he could but only after making sure that Johnathan was alright as well. Once back he looked over the crew before looking back to Micaela. "Shall I start?"

(might take you a bit to square that away in game with the chimeran so I'm going to wait and see if Neko/Etsha have anything first .)

Etsha will continue to keep his gun trained on the officer Micaela is talking to, and paying attention to their answer (if there is one) looking for tell tale signs of dishonesty.

The ship is carrying gas products to be refined into fuel in the shipyard and spare parts and loose raw materials for the forges and workshops there. It’s main purpose is harvesting raw gasses from the system to be refined and right now they are operating with a full load. They’d been preparing to dock with the refinery when the attack began

"Well now, why don't we just commandeer that for you?" He asked as he looked back at his Senior.

Micaela puts a finger up to her helmet in a shushing motion, but gives him a nod. "With all that gas aboard the ship we need to get the fires in the engine room dealt with, the five of us will deal with that while you keep an eye on everything Etsha to make sure they don't make any unfortunate mistakes. Where is your fire fighting equipment on here, you help us with this we'll take you captive and if this war works out in your favor you might even get a chance to do right by your house and families again down the line." Micaela will ask. (edited)

The firefighting equipment is in the engine room and there is also a backup set about where you burrowed into the vessel, meant to help put out any blazes in the gas compartments.

“I will keep them under.guard, Captain.”

"Actually now that I think of it since the Mosk are podded John can handle guard duty. We'll grab their fire fighting gear and pass it to one of these bridge crew. And use our own to get to theirs then pass that out. If this sounds like a plan let's get to it immediately" Micaela says with a tinge of excitement underlying her professional authoritarian tone. She fishes out her last medpak and sets it on a console near the captain "that's medicine for us. Don't know if it works for you. Harrstjarna go ahead and grab their guns up for now. Stow then on the ship and grab John."

Harrstjarna nodded his head and started to as he was told. Walking to each individual and taking their weapons as well as patting them down to make sure that they didn't have any hidden away on their persons.

You find a small palm sized blade concealed on the master at arms. No one else has tried to smuggle anything out.

Harrstjarna take the concealed blade as well before heading off to stow them on their ship.

Harrstjarna shortly returned with John and waited for further orders.

Etsha will walk and enforce the officers putting out the fire. With an offsetting grin, he'll also ask a question to one of the officers "So are you sure that is all you have on this ship. Not hiding anything are you? It would be ideal to attempt to avoid any type of possible interrogation - dreadfully unpleasant as they are."

Micaela will trust to her Storm Armor to provide additional protection from the heat as she tries to get to the rest of the firefighting gear the Free Merchant has onboard, cracking a grin to herself at Etsha's question if she can make it out.

The crew aside from the captain are little more than slaves themselves just slaves given a specialized task and a little better treatment for it. They’d be in just as much trouble for hiding things with their own people as with you

Etsha shrugs. "Worth a try." and continues monitoring the fire fighting.

Flames in the engine room have begin working their way towards the crew compartment you explored a few moments ago and the captains room is already aflame due to the heat transmitter through the rear bulkhead off the room.

Micaela will be working to fight this fire with whatever standard/mandatory training is given on the equipment, one of the Noctua's being given a set of firefighting gear as well. Seeking to put out the fire in the crew compartment so that there is no risk of the Fire spreading around behind them and trapping them while they're working on the engine room. (Were you helping with the fire or something else Harrstjarna, Etsha? John's been brought on to keep an eye on everything so you're not standing by while adventure stuff happens, unless you're not keen to deal with fire.)

Seeing the flames spreading quickly Etsha speak up “Captain - could we just evacuate the few of us on the ship and allow vacuum to put out the flame?”

Micaela shouts back, even though such volume isn't necessary with the internal coms on the suit helmet. "I don't know, maybe? Is that something a ship can even do? Sounds super convenient!"

(Im not trying to break any game mechanics just trying to think outside of the box. Smack me if I’m wrong plz :p)

Micaela battles against the flames using the unfamiliar equipment and rapidly tiring. But still throwing herself against the inferno sometimes recklessly so. Stay focused on small goals throughout the process

Between the two of you, it looks like the hoses are working properly, and are pressurized. SLowly working the sprayers back and forth, the flames diminish, starved of air and fuel.

"Well, this was easier than I thought it would be." He stated as he turned his attention back to Micaela.

The flames are pretty much out, but with equipment limited Etsha was just trying to help direct where the flames seemed the worse.

"Alright, Micaela, orders?" He asked as he turned now, seeing the flames dimished.

Micaela looks over at the rest of the crew on both sides of the conflict and says "Alright. Ya'll did good. We're gonna set you all up in cryo now until this situation is over." Micaela will type out a message to send to the coms of her crew "I"m going to send a message to the rest of the fleet and we can get this ship out of the way of the fighting for now. Plunder it later. Then we can join the others on the shipyard attack?" (I'll be writing a message in the original shipyard assault thread updating everyone on this assault's success)

(The fight is about done there, the battleships I think are the only ships left and are going to keep being jammed )

Harrstjarn sheds off his Firefighting equipment and nods to Micaela as he makes his way back to the bridge of the enemy vessel, walking over to the captain's seat and running his hands along the back of it as he walked around it in a small circle, stopping just in front of it. "I hope this was worth it." He chuckled as he turned around and sat down in the seat, curious as to how comfortable it was.

It is not designed for humans, evidently, and there is not much support in it for you to find it comfortable. To the Chimeran body, it is probably passable.

"What was I thinking, clearly not made for a human..." He said as he rose from the seat, looking over the console as he made his way back to Micaela and the others.
